Moody Gardens Palm Beach

Located in Galveston, Moody Gardens is a public, non-profit, educational destination utilizing nature in the advancement of rehabilitation, conservation, recreation and research. It began in the mid-1980s with a horse barn and riding arena to begin a hippotherapy riding program for people with head injuries.

Today Moody Gardens is one of the premier educational and leisure facilities in the southwest. It also provides horticultural therapy, education, and employment for persons with a wide range of physical and emotional disabilities.

In 1988, we had the privilege of creating Palm Beach at Moody Gardens. White sand from Florida was brought across the Gulf of Mexico. It was one of our first major projects and opened the doors for D.L. Meacham Construction to demonstrate our advanced capabilities to handle large amenity projects. Palm Beach has now expanded to a full-size water park and lazy river.

Moody Gardens attracts more than two million visitors annually and we are proud to have been a part in the development of one of the area’s foremost educational and entertaining amenities. Palm Beach and Moody Gardens has a top spot in our own history as we reflect on our 40 years of helping dreams become reality for many Houston-area developers.

Have You Heard about Crystal Lagoon?

New amenities for the times, Crystal Clear Lagoons are community manmade beaches taken to the next level.

We are the General Contractor for the second and largest Crystal Lagoon in Texas. Currently under development in the master-planned community of Lago Mar in Texas City, Crystal Lagoon is a manmade 12-acre water lagoon surrounded by a white sand beach.

The developer is Land Tejas Cos. and the first phase of the project is expected to open next year. When completed, Lago Mar Crystal Lagoon will be six times larger than the first Texas Crystal Lagoon in Balmoral, northeast of Houston.

Crystal Lagoons use special EPA-approved chemical diffusers, an ultrasonic filtration system and underwater vacuums to keep the water clear.

“This project creates a totally new type of lifestyle for residents,” said Chad Meacham, Managing Partner. “A beautiful beachfront and lagoon become the setting and backdrop for all types of community events and social gatherings, and the crystal clear water provides enjoyment for swimming, paddle boarding and relaxing. We are so excited to be a part of the development of Crystal Lagoon in Texas City. It will have a significant and positive impact on the area.”
